Most everyone has experienced having acne. Generally, acne and the blemishes that come with them will disappear from the skin within a few days without scarring. Unfortunately, for those of us with sensitive skin, acne can leave unsightly redness, scarring or bumps. Thankfully there are ways to cover up acne scars with a little bit of makeup and know how.

Mineral makeup is highly recommended for covering up acne scars. Pick a product that's 100% pure and free from fillers.

Begin by thoroughly cleaning your face with a mild cleanser. Thoroughly hydrate and moisturize your face (TIP: Use our Homeade Face Astringent Honey and egg treatment to tighten your pores).

Next, you'll want to use a mattifying gel. We recommend using the OC Eight Professional Mattifying Gel. Professional makeup artists, and even American Idol uses this mattifying gel.

Start with a mineral concealer. They usually have a yellowish tint to them, which actually helps with eliminating the redness. Use crisscross strokes to avoid creating stroke marks on your face. If you choose, liquid foundations will work fine for this too. This type of concealer works great in those little acne scars, because it lightens them from the inside, which makes them look more flush with your skin.

Your next step, is to take a light color foundation, and brush with downward strokes. This is followed by taking a medium concealer and continuing the process. Slight imperfections in the skin are blended away, and unsightly redness from acne disappears.

Here's a beauty tip on tightening the pores of your skin and controlling that unwanted oily complexion. Egg and honey mixtures have been used for centuries as one of the best natural ways to tighten your pores.

Not only that, honey actually acts as a natural antioxidant skin cleanser, while eggs hydrate and tighten your skin. Here's a simple way to make this wonderful homemade astringent.

Here's what you'll need: one egg, honey, apple cider vinegar.

First, take a fresh lemon and squeeze the juice into a glass or small bowl. Set aside. Fresh lemon juice is great for controlling oily skin. And we know what oily skin leads to: clogged pores. Yuck!

Next, beat one egg. Combine 1 teaspoon of apple cider vinegar, and two teaspoons of honey with the beaten egg. Quickly beat the mixture to blend ingredients fully.

Add about a tablespoon of the lemon juice to the beaten egg and honey mixture, and mix some more.

Thoroughly wash your face with a mild cleanser and pat your skin dry. Next, you want to take the homemade astringent and apply it fully over the face. Gently massage the mixture into your skin, especially around the cheeks where your pores may become larger.

Leave the mixture on your face for about 10 to 15 minutes. This will give the time needed for this homemade treatment to do its thing. Oil and dirt will disappear from your face, and the natural effects of the honey and eggs will tighten your pores.

Lastly, remove the mixture with warm water and pat dry again.

Your skin will feel refreshed, and your pores tightened and clean. You're now able to apply your favorite makeup, or stick with that natural look. Either way, your skin will appreciate this natural treatment.
